Georgia & Jacob’s Glorious, Gloucestershire Summer Wedding

As a documentary wedding photographer working in Gloucestershire, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness countless beautiful celebrations of love, but Georgia and Jacob’s wedding at The Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury was something truly unforgettable. With the sun shining down on a cloudless 30°C day and laughter echoing across the grounds, this was a wedding filled with heartfelt emotion, cheeky surprises, and real wedding moments that will be cherished forever.
A Glorious Day at The Great Tythe Barn:
The Great Tythe Barn wedding venue is always a favourite for couples looking for that perfect blend of rustic charm and elegant countryside aesthetics. With its sweeping drive, honey-coloured Cotswold stone, and lush green grounds, it’s easy to see why it remains one of the most popular wedding venues in Gloucestershire.
On this particular day, the sun didn’t hold back. It was hot, really hot, but that didn’t dampen spirits (although it did dampen a few shirts, that’s for sure!) Finding shade was the order of the day for a few guests, but many of them didn’t let the sun stop them.
Georgia’s Emotional Morning with Her Family
Georgia spent the morning getting ready in the beautiful on-site accommodation with her bridesmaids, made up mostly of her sisters and her two adorable nieces, who took on the important role of flower girls. The energy in the room was warm, excited, and filled with that unmistakable pre-wedding buzz. There were a few nerves, a lot of laughter, and so much love.
One of the most touching moments of the entire day happened before the ceremony even began. Georgia’s first look with her dad was emotional to say the least. As he turned to see his daughter for the first time in her dress, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room, including mine. Capturing these candid wedding moments is what being a documentary wedding photographer is all about: those fleeting seconds of real, raw emotion that speak volumes.
A Ceremony Full of Sunshine and Smiles
The outdoor ceremony space at The Great Tythe Barn looked absolutely stunning, surrounded by the blooming gardens clear blue skies. With so many smiling guests gathered under the blazing summer sun, Georgia walked down the aisle to meet a slightly nervous but completely smitten Jacob.
Despite the heat, everyone was beaming as the couple exchanged their vows. It was clear how much love surrounded them, not just between Georgia and Jacob, but from their large, close-knit families and all their friends.
One of the funniest and most memorable parts of the ceremony came thanks to the cheeky ring bearer, who presented the couple with Haribo rings as a playful prank. The laughter that erupted from the guests, and even the registrar, created one of those perfect real wedding moments that I love to capture. It was light-hearted, genuine, and utterly them.
Emotional Speeches and So Much Love
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks in the sunshine while the couple snuck off for some relaxed portraits around the grounds. Jacob had mentioned feeling a bit camera-shy, but my documentary approach to wedding photography allowed him to ease into it naturally. By focusing less on posing and more on genuine interactions, it was easy to capture the love he so clearly has for Georgia. Their connection shone through in every frame.
The speeches during the wedding breakfast were another emotional highlight. There were laughs, of course, but also a lot of tears, from the couple, the parents, and even some of the guests. These are the moments that matter most: candid wedding moments that reflect the depth of feeling on such an important day.
A Wedding Party to Remember
When it came time for the party to begin, the heat didn’t slow anyone down. The dancefloor was packed from the moment the music started, with guests of all ages throwing shapes well into the night. I made sure to stay in the heart of the action, capturing natural wedding moments that tell the true story of the celebration, from the couple’s first dance to that one uncle giving it his all to “Mr. Brightside.”
One particularly special photo came from a stylised wedding party group shot. Rather than going for the traditional line-up, we created a more dynamic, editorial-style composition that looked absolutely striking against the backdrop of the cotswold stone building. It’s the kind of image that’s perfect for a large print, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it framed proudly on the couple’s living room wall soon.
Final Thoughts: Love, Laughter, and Legacy
Georgia and Jacob’s wedding at The Great Tythe Barn was a beautiful celebration of family, fun, and lifelong commitment. As a Great Tythe Barn wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to capture. From the emotional dad-daughter moment and the Haribo ring surprise to the laughter-filled speeches and joy on the dancefloor, every moment was real, raw, and full of heart.
